FIRST MILE TO BETTER TOURISM<\/strong>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Troms\u00f8 Lodge & Camping has been chosen as one of 20 companies from Norway to participate in the EU-sponsored project, “First Mile to Better Tourism”. This initiative aims to enhance sustainable tourism by applying behavioral science principles to positively influence guest behavior.<\/p>\n

Behavioral design<\/strong> focuses on shaping choices. By understanding how people make decisions and guiding their behavior, businesses can operate more sustainably while ensuring satisfied guests.<\/p>\n

Mimir AS, a key partner in this EU project, coordinates Norwegian participation. Through this initiative, participants will gain valuable insights and experience in using behavioral design in tourism, with tested methods set to be implemented across 1,000 companies in the EU tourism industry.<\/p>\n

FIRST MILE TO BETTER TOURISM<\/strong> is the first EU-funded project in the tourism sector with Norway as a main partner. It empowers small and medium-sized companies to make a positive impact on their businesses, local communities, and the planet. 80 businesses from France, Italy, Norway, and Slovenia will test innovative, simple, and affordable measures based on \u201cnudging\u201d to make sustainable choices more attractive to guests.<\/p>\n

At Troms\u00f8 Lodge & Camping, we are focusing on waste management to reduce residual waste from our guests. With EU funding, we have implemented waste sorting systems in our cabins and upgraded our recycling station to facilitate sorting organic, plastic, glass, metal, and residual waste.<\/p>\n

Troms\u00f8 Lodge & Camping aims to ensure the most sustainable and environmentally friendly delivery of all its services<\/h3>\n

Through the Eco-Lighthouse certification program, we first achieved becoming a certificatied sustainable business in 2020. Our goal is to make sustainability a natural and integrated part of our daily work, as well as to influence our guests to make sustainable choices while staying with us in Troms\u00f8.<\/p>\n

As a locally owned business – and part of TUIL (Tromsdalen Youth and Sports Club) – our strength lies in the social dimension of our sustainability work, through our commitment to the local community. Together with TUIL, we facilitate for children and youth to thrive in sports and participate in after-school activities. And as a local business within the tourism industry, we contribute to creating jobs and offering educational opportunities for students, as well as parttaking in various work-programs for individuals in collaboration with the local municipality.<\/p>\n

Although we are proud to have achieved this certification, we recognize that the accomplishment is no more than a natural step in our approach towards becoming a more sustainable business, and that it relies on true commitment and constant work.<\/p>\n
